2018 CPT Updates and Anatomy For Coding

SPEAKER:  Robin L. Smith Hicks, COC, CPC, CAHI, Adjunct Faculty at Macomb Community College 

Robin Smith Hicks, COC, CPC, C-AHI has over 25 years of health care experience, and has been teaching Medical Assisting, Billing and Coding for over 15 years at Macomb Community College. Her current project is development of online curriculum for medical coding and curriculum advisor for MCC. In 2015, she retired from Trinity Health System in Livonia, where she worked as an ICD-10 Coding Compliance Analyst, assisting over 70 hospital systems nationwide in preparing for ICD-10.  She was a Coding Educator at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, working with providers, coders and billers to promote compliant documentation and  as a speaker for local coding, auditing and medical assisting associations.

We will discuss the following:

• Review all 314 code changes, additions, deletions
• Review guidelines
• Evaluate operative reports and clinical notes for clarity in coding, using specific anatomical details to accurately assign codes.
