Diagnostics: Billing and Coding

SPEAKER:   Maryellen Hulwick, CPC, CPMA

Maryellen has worked for Munson Healthcare for 24 years.   Her job experience has included, Front Desk insurance verification, billing and coding for Munson Family Practice and additional coding responsibilities within the Munson Healthcare System.   Maryellen currently serves as the Director of Events for Michigan Medical Billers Association and has been a board member since 2016.

How often do patients call your practice regarding bills from the lab or radiologist that were denied? They state they have already called the insurance company and were told YOU coded it wrong! Does the hospital send your office faxes requesting additional diagnosis to meet medical necessity? We can help you with that!

We will review:

  • Documentation requirements
  • Reasons testing is being performed
  • Overview of rejections
  • Finding the code for medical necessity
  • Reference material for correct billing
  • Payer specific frequency requirements
