Laticia Wing

Laticia Wing, CPC, ACS-OR

Laticia Wing, CPC, has worked for MSU for 21 years. She first came to MSU as the Billing Supervisor for Sports Medicine. After 20 years she felt the need for a change and accepted a new position as the Billing Supervisor for Olin Student Health Services. Although she enjoys billing, she felt she had more to offer both to her peers and providers as well as a strong desire to learn. She  left Student Health Services to take a position with the MSU HealthTeam as a Compliance Analyst. In this current role she, audits E/M documentation, and educates providers on E/M guidelines, and Fraud and Awareness. She is specialty certified in Orthopedics. She has worked in the medical field for 28 years with previous billing experience in hospital and home healthcare billing. Several years ago, feeling the need for specialty specific networking opportunities, she created a monthly meeting for orthopedic billers in the Lansing and Tri-Co areas. This group has proven to be an invaluable resource for networking and sharing information. Laticia joined the MMBA in February of 2007 as the Insurance Liaison. She then held the position of Vice President of Special Events and is our current President. “The MMBA is an exceptional resource for all billers, the networking opportunities are endless and I am honored to be affiliated with such a great organization.”

Roxanne Dufort

Roxanne Dufort, CPC, CPMA, CFPC

Roxanne is a graduate from Baker College of Cadillac. Since her graduation, she has worked in the medical billing field since 1995. She obtained her Certified Professional Coder status in 2005. Her past 22 years of billing for many different specialties all over the state of Michigan gave her a wide variety of billing experiences. As President of Northern Billing Specialists, Roxanne personally oversees the training of staff to ensure timely and accurate claim submission. To further educate Northern Billing's Certified Coders Roxanne founded the Cadillac Chapter of The American Academy of Professional Coders which still remains an active chapter today. Roxanne is also a proud member of NAMAS and has her own auditing and consulting company known as MACS.

Colette Golec, CPC

Colette Golec, CPC is employed as the Director, Client Services with Physician Billing Management, a medical billing and consulting firm. With almost 30 years in healthcare, Colette has worked in private practices, hospital organizations, and software companies before joining PBMI in 2006. At PBMI, responsibilities include implementing Practice Managements Systems, and working with physicians to insure accurate coding and documentation.  Colette is also a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders. Like many of the MMBA Chapter Officers, Colette’s goal in beginning the South MI chapter is to provide a forum for education and interaction for office and billing staffs to better meet today’s changing health care industry.

Terri Marohn

Terri Marohn, CMRS

Terri Marohn, CMRS has been in the medical billing field for over 19 years and is president of TerMar Billing, Inc., specializing in mental health billing. Terri is a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) and also serves as a moderator for the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) forum and Facebook groups. She is currently an active member of the National Advisory Board for AMBA, previously served as a chapter officer for the East Michigan MMBA chapter, and currently is the Co-Director of Chapters for MMBA.

 

DIRECTOR of COMMUNICATIONS

Amy Lasley

Amy Lasley, CPC

Amy Lasley, CPC is a Solutions Development Analyst for Ascension Information Services. Prior to that, she was a Clinical Health Informatics Specialist for Genesys PHO specializing in EMR template development and implementation. She has also worked as an Insurance Research Supervisor and Insurance Liaison for a large Radiology and Pathology billing service, as well as a Professional Biller for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation providers. Having served on the board since 2007, Amy has held positions as the Chapter Officer for the Genesee County/East MI Chapter and as the Director of Marketing and Recruitment. Amy now holds the position of Director of Communications. Amy is also a member of American Academy of Professional Coders. “Being that the healthcare industry is ever-changing, MMBA is a great resource for new and seasoned billers alike.”

Marissa Bielecki

Marissa Bielecki, CMRS

Marissa is as graduate from Dorsey Business School. With over 7 year’s experience in the medical field, Marissa has worked at multiple billing services, starting with data entry. She is currently employed by Mid-Michigan Dermatology, PLLC as the Billing Supervisor as well as a MIBOA (Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration) Lead Instructor at Ross Medical Education Center in Lansing. Marissa has experience with Anesthesia, Occupation Therapy, Durable Medical Equipment, Surgery and Dermatology billing. Marissa has also been the chapter officer for the Mid-Michigan Chapter since 2012. Prior to becoming a chapter office, Marissa was a member of the MMBA.

Christy Odell

Christy O'Dell, CPC

Christy O’Dell, CPC, CPMA, is employed as a Coder/Billing Services Coordinator at Kurt Aurand, DO, PC, in Owosso MI. She also does contract coding for CMU Residency Program and Kiwi-Tek. Christy has worked in the billing and coding business for over 20 years. She has spent most of her billing/coding career working in the Interventional Cardiology specialty, but finds OB-GYN just as challenging. Christy has been a member of MMBA for the last 9 years and an active board member for 7 years serving as the Northeast Chapter Officer, Secretary, Director of Marketing and most recently the Director of Special Events.  Christy believes that if you find a job you love, you'll never have to work a day in your life!

Cynthia Wilkie, CPC

Cindi Wilkie, CPC is employed by McLaren Medical Group-Mid Michigan Physicians as an Internal Coding Consultant for a multi-specialty physician group.  Cindi has been employed by MMP for 9 years responsible for auditing and education of provider services.  Cindi has been in the MMBA since 1992 with a variety of Board positions and was Co-Chair of the Mid-Michigan Chapter since 2015 and is also a member of AAPC. Her motto is “If it wasn’t documented, it wasn’t done.”

Jennifer Gamble is employed as the Manager, Client Services & Network Support with Physician Billing Management, a medical billing and consulting firm.  With almost 14 years in healthcare, Jennifer has worked at multiple billing services, starting as data entry, and accounts receivable for multiple specialties before joining PBMI in 2004.  At PBMI, she has assisted in the implementation of Practice Management Systems, coordinates patient precollection and collection efforts, credentials providers with various insurance carriers, physician healthcare organizations, hospital systems, research electronic data interchange rejections, as well as provides information technology services.  Like many of the MMBA Chapter Officer’s, Jennifer’s goal is to assist Colette Golec in providing a forum for education and interaction for office and billing staffs to better meet today’s changing health care industry.  She is now happy to be acting as Secretary along with actively working with the Director of Communications.

Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith, CPC

Shannon Smith, CPC, is the Director of Provider Revenue Services at Genesys PHO/PMI. Since joining the PHO in 2006, Shannon has been involved with the billing and coding for a variety of specialties, including Vascular Surgery, Gastroenterology, Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Perinatology, Trauma Surgery, Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy, ENT, Dermatology, Infectious Disease/Infusion Medicine, and Radiology. Shannon’s prior experience includes over 10 years billing at MI Ortho (formerly Family Orthopedic Associates) where the providers specialized in General Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Spine Surgery, Pain Management, Hand Surgery, Foot Surgery and Physical Medicine. Shannon joined MMBA in 1996 and became involved with the Board in 2014. Shannon’s favorite MMBA events are annual Expo and the CPT update meetings, which help her to prepare for the upcoming changes each year.

After many years of billing, Shannon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, became a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders, and earned her CPC certification. Shannon firmly believes in advancing personal education, staying involved, and educating herself by any means necessary. As the current East MI Co-Chair, Shannon’s passion for education and ensuring providers are capturing every revenue opportunity via proper documentation & coding keeps her driven. Shannon hopes to bring that same enthusiasm to our members by providing updates and relevant information to keep us all up to date with the never-ending payer changes at both chapter meetings and at the annual MMBA Expo.

Melissa Boughner, CMRS

Melissa Boughner, CMRS is employed as the Billing Services Co-coordinator at Mid-Michigan Physicians, PC is Lansing.  MMP is a large multi-specialty physician group including, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ob-Gyn, Hematology-Oncology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Physical Medicine and Rehab, General Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Urgent Care, Infectious Disease, and Diagnostic Services.  Melissa has been employed with MMP for 18 years working in most areas, including her great interest in provider credentialing.  Melissa has been a member of MMBA for 9 years, including 2 years service as Secretary, and 1 years as the Communications Co-Director.  Melissa has worked as a co-project manager implementing EHR through MMP.  She is also a member of the Michigan Medical Group Management Association. “In our ever changing world of medical billing, groups like MMBA are imperative to getting accurate and current information.  I look forward to working with all involved with MMBA."

Jill YoungJill brings with over 30 years of medical experience.  This includes a diverse background in all areas of medicine from clinical to billing and she has worked with many physician specialties. Her consulting company provides auditing and the usual consulting services but additionally provides both education and training from front office to back. Her professional speaking includes speaking educational lectures for the Michigan State Medical Society and other national organizations including The Coding Institute and Eli Research.

Lori Julian, CCS-P, is the Professional Billing Compliance/HIPAA Privacy Manager for CMU College of Medicine.  Lori also leads a team of Coders, Billers, Provider Enrollment and Referrals Specialists, and manages the revenue cycle for CMU Medical Education Partners.  Lori has worked on the “business side” of healthcare since 1982 and has experience in professional and facility coding and billing, graduate medical education, EMR implementation, optimization and education and multi-practice integration.  Lori is a member of MMBA, AAPC, AHIMA and AAMC.   “The MMBA is the best resource for all things related to successfully managing a healthcare revenue cycle.  I am honored to represent the Northeast Chapter and serve our members.

Lynn has over 20 years experience in the medical billing and coding field.  She has worked as a receptionist, biller/coder and office manager. She is currently employed  as Lead Coder for CMU Medical Education Partners.  She has been with CMU for 17 years .  She has experience the following specialties: Family and Internal Medicine, Pediatrics,  Ob/Gyn, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Wound Care, Physical Therapy.  Lynn is a member of American Academy of Professional Coders, and served as President and Vice President her local chapter.  She is also a member of AHIMA.  She is currently a Co Chair of the Northeast Chapter of MMBA.

Cindy Hartline, CPC, CPMA

Cindy is a graduate of Baker College in Cadillac. She started her billing career with an externship at Northern Billing Specialists and has been employed there ever since. She is now the coding specialist. Cindy has over 11 years experience in billing and coding. She is also an adjunct instructor at Baker College of Cadillac for the Medical Insurance Specialist program and has been since 2013. She is also an auditor for MACS, a member of AAPC, and a member of NAMAS. Cindy holds certifications as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).

Maryellen Hulwick, CPC, CPMA is employed at Munson Family Practice Center, a residency training program that is dually accredited, in their billing department. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, she has held various positions ranging from file clerk, unit clerk, medical office front desk, nursing staff scheduler for a local hospital, and rural health billing. In 2004, she obtained certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the AAPC. In 2011, she obtained certification as a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).

Kathy Jo Uecker, CMPE, EFPM, NCP, COC,

Kathy JoKathy Jo has been working in healthcare practice management since 1989 and now is on the consulting staff of NetSource One thru a merger of Medical Informatics Solutions. With a strong background in billing, coding and revenue cycle management, she brings that expertise to the NSO team. Her past experience also includes medical chart auditing, development and implementation of Compliance Programs, including HIPAA, fee schedule analysis, insurance carrier contract negotiations and practice management software conversions and implementation. Kathy Jo's passion for medical billing and revenue maximization led her to become a certified coder. She has completed certifications with AHIMA for training on ICD-10CM/PCS coding and compliance.

Kathy Jo is a certified member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (CMPE), the certifying body of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). She is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Professional Outpatient Coder (COC) thru the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Kathy completed an Executive Fellowship through the American Academy of Medical Management and is a NextGen Certified Professional. Kathy trained for ICD10CM/ PCS thru American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and was an active Ambassador for their program. She is active in the Michigan Medical Group Management Association (MiMGMA), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) , the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the Michigan Medical Billers Association (MMBA), Michigan Health Information Management Association (MIHIMA) and the American Academy of Medical Management (AAMM) She currently serves on the Third Party Liaison Committee for the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) and the Third Party Payer Day committee, an annual conference sponsored by MMGMA, MMBA and MSMS.  Kathy Jo has most recently completed the course work and successfully passed the examination to achieve the credentials of Certified HIPAA Security Professional (CHSPA). She also completed the course work and successfully passed the examination to achieve the credentials of Certified HIT Security Administrator (CHSA).

Sheila has been in the medical billing field for 16 years specializing in otolaryngology.  She graduated from Davenport University in 2002 with her Medical Coding/Billing degree.  Sheila is a Certified Medical Reimbusement Specialist (CMRS) and is currently working on her Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. Sheila is a member of AAPC, AMBA, as well as MMBA. Sheila is currently serving as the chapter officer for the west region for MMBA. She is very excited about working with the MMBA board to help give our members the knowledge & networking they need in this growing medical billing field.
